Which countries own the most patents historically?
A historical view of where patent ownership is most concentrated, enables us to better understand how today's current top patent owners in AI algorithms and hardware accelerators got to where they are. Or alternatively, which countries used to be a top patent owner in a technology but have since seen their leadership position slip. We track their patent ownership through two decades by tracking patents with an earliest priority year between 2005 and 2025.
